Single Sign-On (SSO) is a service that allows you to log in to multiple ESTIEM platforms using one account, instead of managing separate credentials for each service.
As of March 2024, ESTIEM uses SSO for the following platforms:
ESTIEM Portal 6
The main system for managing ESTIEM events and tracking member participation
Google Workspace for Nonprofits
ESTIEM provides access to tools like Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Chat, Meet, and Tasks via Google Workspace. While the login system is powered by Microsoft Azure, the tools themselves are part of the Google ecosystem.
Elium
ESTIEM’s knowledge-sharing platform where members can exchange ideas, provide feedback, and collaborate on relevant topics.
Note: Since SSO is integrated through Microsoft Azure, you may experience conflicts if your university or employer also uses Microsoft systems. To avoid login issues, consider using separate browsers or different user profiles.
To access most files and forms within ESTIEM’s Google Workspace, you must log in with your ESTIEM account (firstname.lastname@estiem.org
) through SSO.
Common reasons access is restricted:
Email verification: Automatically collects accurate email addresses and prevents typos.
Form restrictions: Ensures that each user submits only once and avoids duplicates.
Security: Prevents personal or inactive email accounts from retaining access to important documents.
To access Google Workspace resources:
Step 1:
Sign in to Google with your ESTIEM email (firstname.lastname@estiem.org
).
Step 2:
Authenticate via the Microsoft-based SSO system using the same ESTIEM email and password.
Once both steps are completed, you will have access to ESTIEM Google resources.
This error typically occurs when your default Google account in the browser is not your ESTIEM account.
Even if you’re logged in with your ESTIEM email, Google may try to open the file using your personal/default account instead.
There are several solutions:
Long-term solution: Set your ESTIEM account as your default Google account:
Option A: Use a different browser where you are not logged into any Google accounts.
Option B: Create a new browser user profile (e.g., in Chrome).
Option C: Log out of all Google accounts and then log in first with your ESTIEM account.
Temporary workaround #1: Modify the Google Form URL
Google Form URLs usually look like this:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/FORM_ID/viewform
Modify the link to explicitly use your ESTIEM account index:https://docs.google.com/forms/u/1/d/e/FORM_ID/viewform
Try /u/1/
, /u/2/
, etc., depending on how many accounts are signed in.
Temporary workaround #2: Use Incognito Mode
Open a new incognito/private window in your browser.
Log in with your ESTIEM account and complete the SSO login.
You should now have access without conflicts from other accounts.
