My Application

Historically, 1989 symbolises the beginning of a more united and connected Europe. For ESTIEMers, it marked the birth of a network that today bridges over twenty countries, connecting universities, companies, students, professors and IEM professionals. The first ESTIEM event was already fully sponsored by companies and brought participants across three continents – a reminder that, even then, the vision for ESTIEM extended far beyond borders.

When I first joined the network, I did not yet realise the scale of what I was stepping into. ESTIEM is often difficult to explain to those outside the network – it is something that is best understood through the people, the energy and the shared purpose that bring us together. I have had the opportunity to grow from a curious newbie into a committed Leader within ESTIEM. Each step – which I list below – allowed me to better understand the organisation, the people behind it and the responsibility that comes with shaping its future.

    • HR Collaborator of ESTIEM Local Group Aveiro, October 2022 – June 2023
    • Events Promotion Responsible of Central ESTIEM, March 2023 – August 2024
Worked closely with the VP of Activities of the 33rd and 34th Boards to promote events while analysing participation data to improve outreach and engagement.
    • Vice President of HR of ESTIEM LG Aveiro, June 2023 – August 2024
Led a 15-person online team to organise the first National MoWe in Portugal for 70 participants.
    • HR Coordinator of LXVIII Council Meeting Aveiro, June 2023 – April 2024
Responsible for the HR management of a 60-person organising team.
    • Ambassador of APGEI (IEM organisation), October 2024 – October 2025
Explored collaboration beyond ESTIEM in an organisation connecting students, companies and IEM professionals, broadening my perspective on external partnerships.
    • Feedback Responsible of ADD, February 2025 – August 2025
Worked with the VP of Education of the 35th Board to strengthen feedback processes supporting the development of ESTIEM services in ADD.
    • Regional Coordinator of Solaris Region, August 2025 – present
    • (Head) Instructor of LSS & Product  Management, December 2025 – present

Over the past four years, I have had the opportunity to work closely with ESTIEMers at both local and international level, as well as with companies and Board members. I’ve been part of diverse teams and, at times, had the privilege of leading them. Through these experiences, I have grown as a person and professional, but above all as a Leader.

I still remember attending my first Council Meeting in Budapest as a delegate. Sitting in the GA – after far too few hours of sleep – I was fascinated by the responsibility carried by those sitting on the other side of the table. At the time, I could not yet imagine the full journey that ESTIEM would take me on.

Through the experiences and responsibilities that followed, my understanding of the organisation deepened and so did my willingness to contribute further. Three years later, I feel ready to take that responsibility which is why I, Leonor Marques, am running for President of the 37th Board of ESTIEM.

I see ESTIEM as a unique organisation: a network run by students, for students, capable of delivering impactful services while building meaningful connections. Our members aim for the BOBs (best of the best) of life, our services foster development, and our strength lies in the diversity and commitment of the people behind this network. With this in mind, I would like to focus on two main areas during my mandate as President. By the end of my mandate, I aim to leave an ESTIEM that is more visible and trusted among professional partners, who recognize the hardworking people ESTIEM develops. Last but not least, all this is possible by an organisation whose internal alignment and communication embody the spirit of our motto, Aiming High.

1. Empowering ESTIEMers’ Value

I envision an ESTIEM that is recognised not only for its services, but also for the talented and driven people it helps develop. By strengthening relationships with professional and academic partners, ESTIEM can further position itself as a reference within the Industrial Engineering and Management community in Europe –  and potentially beyond.

The goal is simple: to ensure that the time ESTIEMers invest in the network is recognised and valued by their future employers. When companies see ESTIEM as a community that consistently brings together proactive, capable and ambitious students, the experience gained within the network naturally becomes a differentiating factor. In this way, involvement in ESTIEM becomes more than merely participation in a student organisation – it becomes a recognised signal of initiative, responsibility and international collaboration.

One step towards this would be working towards EU-level recognition or accreditation for ESTIEM course certificates, increasing their value for companies and future employers and contributing to stronger recognition of ESTIEM across Europe.

2. Working Better Together

For those involved in Central work it is clear that the overall flow of information within the network needs to be rethought and redesigned. However, as most ESTIEMers are not directly exposed to these internal processes although you may already experienced it even if only active at a local level.

How many times have you searched for information and not known who to approach? How many requests or questions have been lost in time? And how many of you have been approached by different Leaders asking your Local Group to host an event when your calendar was already settled – or even when you had previously discussed the same topic with your Regional Coordinator?

The frequency of these situations makes it clear to me that the current communication and information flow within the network is not performing at its best. Among other measures, I would like to encourage stronger collaboration between ESTIEM members and entities, making workflows clearer and more meaningful so that every service delivered moves the network one step further. To illustrate this, let me give a simple example. For each event organised, an event report is produced where activities, key takeaways, and improvement opportunities are documented. However, this feedback often remains only recorded, without clear follow-up actions. As a result, future services do not consistently build upon these insights, making the progression and improvement of our services slower and more difficult than it should be.

None of this is possible without a strong and motivated Board. As President, I see it as my ultimate responsibility to create an environment where each Board member feels supported, trusted and empowered to perform at their best throughout the mandate.

If elected, I plan to dedicate a gap year to fully commit to the responsibilities of the Presidency and to the development of the network.

I look forward to sharing my ideas and, above all, listening to yours at the LXXII Council Meeting in Istanbul. Feel free to approach me at any time, even if you can’t wait until then! I’m happy to answer your questions and discuss my vision for ESTIEM.

And remember: empowered people build a connected network.

My Application

Every ESTIEM journey starts with a leap of faith… that first flight, that first event, that first time stepping out of our comfort zones. I took that leap in 2023 with Local Group Istanbul-Yildiz, searching for a place where I could be my authentic self. ESTIEM gave me that space to experience, to grow; and now, it is time for me to give back the ultimate return on that gift. I am stepping forward to lead, not just reflect on what this network has given us, but to strategically define what we build next, ensuring the guarantee for every single ESTIEMer across Europe.

I am Toprak Yanmaz, proudly representing LG Istanbul-Yildiz & LG Calabria, and I am officially declaring my intent to run for the President of the 37th Board of ESTIEM.

Throughout my ESTIEM journey of 3 years, I’ve attended several key events that shaped how I perceive our organization. From driving Coordination Meetings and organizing Council Meetings during my Erasmus+ exchange, to stepping up as a temporary ambassador to advocate for our network alongside our European partner NGOs.

From all the contributions I have made to ESTIEM, my proudest organizational achievement is leading the revitalization of Language Programme. Since joining Language Programme last year, I have made significant improvements to the service, transforming it from a declining entity into a valuable resource for ESTIEMers, with the best team members I could ever have! Together, we have proved that transforming an entity’s strategic approach is never impossible when driven by absolute commitment. Today, Language Programme helps hundreds of ESTIEMers in their personal and professional development through language acquisition. I cannot put into words how proud I am to bring back such a valuable learning resource for our members! An idea back in 2012, became a service in 2015, and is now back on track in 2026.

To guide ESTIEM into its next chapter, my presidency will be driven by these four strategic pillars:

1 – Enlargement of ESTIEM Network in IEM Europe

IEM Europe… It consists of a huge amount of people and potential, and we are the organization to advocate IEM students within the integrated European business/institutional ecosystem. That is why focusing on enlargement of ESTIEM Network is such an important topic to me. While we have built a strong community, we have a long road ahead to reach our full capacity… though it is going to be us people who will initiate the change, implement our ambition to our work and connect IEM students together, in a supportive environment.

2 – Enhancement of External Relations with Partner NGOs and European Commission

Within our network, ESTIEM is built on deep connections, lifelong friendships, and our shared ambition. But we must ask ourselves, how much of our true ESTIEM Spirit is visible beyond our borders?

One of my goals for next year’s mandate will be improving the External Image of ESTIEM, together with the Vice President of Public Relations, to truly show the colors of ESTIEM (with #205e44 of course) to the outreach of our network. The more we open ourselves to Europe, the more opportunities we create to grow together.

ESTIEM is a huge network holding a lot of power in Europe to raise awareness on safety, human rights and democracy. I’m aiming for ESTIEM to be seen as more than just an NGO; I want it to be a guiding force for future generations, sharing its wisdom and European values. By fostering strong relations with the European Commission and the European Youth Foundation, we will implement impactful initiatives not only within IEM’s core areas of focus but also on the younger generations of Europe.

3 – Bridging the Knowledge Management Gap between Local Groups/Central ESTIEM

One of the consequences of being a huge network is having different problems & unbalanced manpower between different Local Groups. Bringing our Local Responsibles and Regional Coordinators together to close the knowledge gap in order for Local Groups to not circulate their problems between each other is one of the key topics I’d love to focus on. ESTIEM is a network of open minded students who also learn from each others past mistakes and lessons learnt, sharing our experiences to help others is one of the fuels of our ESTIEM Spirit.

Bringing our Central ESTIEM entities to work together with a shared common mindset is what I want to achieve at the beginning of my mandate. Communication can be a huge problem when not given priority during each process and I am willing to work on closing this gap, both in between of Local Groups and Central ESTIEM entities.

4 – Ensuring the Strategic Growth of ESTIEM

Next year’s mandate will be a critical milestone for our organization: the finalization of the current three year ESTIEM Strategy. Throughout my mandate, I will be fully committed to execute the present ESTIEM Dashboards successfully, ensuring the hard work of the previous Boards; while designing a sustainable, data driven strategic plan for the next three years, to secure ESTIEM’s next era of growth.

Apart from these Goals, I’d also love to briefly explain to you, what I call “Principles” rather than goals. While goals define our destination, principles define how we travel. These are the non negotiable standards that will dictate my everyday leadership as the President of ESTIEM.

  • Transparency – Visibility of the Board’s work to all of our network
  • Safety – developing a safer ESTIEM, in alignment with the ongoing work to create a mediation body, and making sure every ESTIEMer knows this resource is accessible and protected.
  • Leadership Development Support – Encouraging ESTIEMers to take the next big step to take the lead
  • Aiming High – Inspiring every ESTIEMers to aim high and dream big with the spark, awaiting within themselves.

But out of all these, a President’s vision is only as strong as their team. My foundational priority will be the well-being of my co-Boardies by creating a safe environment of high ambition, mutual support and psychological wellness to execute a successful and healthy mandate, together.

You can always reach out to me to share your vision, feedback, and ask questions any time of the day through my communication channels I stated at the bottom of this application letter.

All of our experiences had made us become the person we are today. So let’s learn, develop, and inspire each other. But we cannot do it alone, that’s why we are here today, all together, to go further!

My Application

Hi dear ESTIEMers,

Three years ago, I joined ESTIEM LG Liège to travel and see Europe. I never expected that a student organisation would become the place where I would find my purpose and my path in life. Through 35 events (5 Regional events, Local Responsible Forum, Leaders Forum, 4 Coordination Meetings, 2 Colleges, 4 Council Meetings and more), from my first local meeting to leading the Analysis Committee. I discovered a safe space where I could experiment, fail, and eventually figure out exactly what I want to do and within the process I’ve found myself as a person and what I aspire to be.

My name is Nathan Freymann, and it is my greatest honour to present my application for the Vice President of Administration of the 37th Board of ESTIEM.

My journey began in 2022. Since then, my path in ESTIEM has been a never ending learning experience. As Local Responsible of LG Liège, I had my first connection with the network, learning the art of communication and the challenge of reviving a Local Group. I saw first-hand how bringing the “ESTIEM Spirit” to a local level can transform a student’s university experience.

Stepping up as President of LG Liège, my focus shifted toward the long-term. I moved into strategic planning, reworking our local statutes and regulations to ensure our group’s sustainability. It was here I realised that rules aren’t just bureaucracy and that they are the safety net that allows a Local Group to thrive for years to come.

My transition to the central level through the ITC and the Website Task Group taught me the aspect of international collaboration. Working in teams, I gained the technical skills and the bigger understanding of how our network functions.

However, it is my current mandate as Analysis Committee Leader that truly defined my vision. Diving deep into our IT infrastructure, collaborating with other leaders and attending even more ESTIEM events allowed me to see the connective tissue of ESTIEM.

I finally understood that while our tools and projects are vital, ESTIEM is the people. Without them, our data and our archives are just empty files. Our projects and innovation would be for no one. This realisation is why I am applying for the Board. I want to build and develop an infrastructure that empowers our members to be the best versions of themselves.

If elected, I intend to focus on the following goals:

Administration Sphere: Strengthening the synergy between Committees within the admin sphere. These committees shouldn’t work in silos. I will focus on a unified approach to support our IT infrastructure and resources. The goal here is to make sure that members within these committees have a better understanding of what is going on within the sphere, how different projects are related and furthermore foster collaboration.

Knowledge Management & Accessibility: Empowering our knowledge Management within committees like ITC, AC, and KMC to be sustainable. Making the onboarding process of new members smoother. Work on the accessibility and awareness of the tools that we have, whether it is Elium, handover hub or the drives. Ensure that Local Groups spend less time searching and more time creating.

Council Meetings: Supporting hosting LGs to have quality Council Meetings. Further improve and work on making CMs more attractive to organise. Make it more valuable for participants and organisers.

Data-Driven: Leveraging my experience in the Analysis Committee to bring valuable metrics to board-level decisions, ensuring we address the actual needs of the network. Evaluation on the ESTIEM Dashboard (part of the ESTIEM strategy).

Safety & Transparency: Continue on improving our GDPR compliance and Internal Regulations to ensure every ESTIEMer feels secure and every decision made by the Board is transparent to the Council.

ESTIEM gave me the space to find my passion. Now, I want to ensure that the engine stays running for all of you, and give sparks to newer ones.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the Council Meeting Istanbul – Boğaziçi! Definitely feel free to reach out for questions, ideas and discussion, or more about my goals here:

My Application

Dear ESTIEMers,

While writing this letter I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful that every decision I have ever made led me here.

ESTIEM entered my life at such a point that it gave me the motivation, sense of direction and belonging that truly changed my life. Through this network, I have gained invaluable friendships, had the greatest of experiences, and consistently pushed beyond my comfort zone. I can think of no better way to express my gratitude than by dedicating myself to our community, and to ensure generations to come will get to experience what we have. Therefore, it is with great pride that I submit my application for the position of Vice President of Finance of the 37th Board of ESTIEM.

Last year, I had the privilege of serving as the Financial and Legal Committee Leader, and currently, I represent our network as one of the Ambassadors of ESTIEM. Having engaged in strategic discussions at various events such as the N.E.R.D. CoM, two ESTIEM Colleges, and two Finance Summit 2.0s and more, my investment in our network’s development deepened.

My favorite thing about ESTIEM is easily how every individual contributes to our community in their own unique way, and wants to do their best for what they love the most. Whether it is a local organizer working hard to provide the best experience for their participants or team members stepping up into leadership to make their vision for their entities come true, everyone aims high. For me aiming high means dedicating my efforts to developing the entire network and strategically shaping its direction in the best interest of our community. Because finances form the structural backbone of any organization and intertwine with every area, my vision for the VP of Finance role is to help facilitate this network-wide development.

I aim to work on the following 4 focus areas.

Effective Spending

  • Increase the efforts in searching for investment ideas from the network to involve more ESTIEMers.

  • Execute a conscious process where expenses which are investments for the development of the network are tracked and actively assess these investments by impact, engagement, and network growth.

  • Increase the visibility of our financial supports, ensure that entities and individuals can effectively use their allocated funds.

Diversifying Income

  • Continue in the diversified grants funding direction through developing a broader Grants Portfolio and apply for an EYF grant again to move towards an EYF Structural Grant.

  • Explore collaborative funding opportunities with our partners for possible collaborative projects.

  • Aim to establish and maintain corporate and institutional partnerships.

  • Search for smaller alternative sponsorships.

  • Continue Alumni contact efforts in CR.

Grants Management

  • Closer monitoring of the grant implementation through the year to improve the reporting process.

  • Collaboration within entities to fulfill the grants requirements.

Investing in IEM Development within ESTIEM

Considering our mission and vision, being a connector of IEM students and supporting their development should be in the core of our activities.

ESTIEM being IEM focused is the main differentiator from other international student organizations. This makes it a unique selling point, as well as a distinct advantage when developing tailored financial offerings and pitching to corporate partners who are specifically looking for IEM talent.

My intention with these areas is to focus on the development of ESTIEM in an intentional manner by utilizing our current financial position and sustaining the stability of our finances. In one year from now on, I would like to see a more engaged and ambitious network. I am not only applying to become the Vice President of Finance, but also the 37th Board of ESTIEM. I care about any and all areas, and am very excited at the prospect of working with all of you in the upcoming fun fun fun year! If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me at defne.akar@estiem.org.

“Communication is the bridge between a strategic idea and its impact.”

Dear ESTIEMers,

I am Jelena Lakić, a 4th-year Engineering Management student from LG Novi Sad. Three years ago, I joined this network looking for a place to apply my theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. That curiosity evolved into a leadership journey: from managing Social Media, leading the PR for our largest local projects to serving as VPPR of LG Novi Sad and then representing the network internationally as an Ambassador.

My background in Marketing and Multimedia has taught me that PR is not about “”content””, but about systems, data-driven decisions, and structural clarity. Managing the strategy for a Local Group with 15+ annual projects has shown me that while our greatest strength is our people, our primary challenge is how we engineer the systems that tell their story.

I am running for the position of the Vice President of Public Relations of the 37th Board to bring a focused structure to our PR, ensuring every output is strategically aligned with our organizational objectives. My mandate will be built on three core pillars:

1. Integrated Brand & Employer Value Strategy

A professional identity is built on both consistency and clear value. I want to focus on the deep integration of our brand strategy by ensuring consistent channel discipline across the network. By aligning our visual identity with a clearly defined Value Proposition, we will make the professional ROI of active involvement in ESTIEM transparent. The goal is to ensure that the skills gained within the network are visible, documented, and easily recognized by the professional market.

2. External Impact & Professional Advocacy

ESTIEM should be a primary reference point within the European IEM ecosystem. I want to focus on benchmarking our standards against best-in-class organizations to refine our external positioning. My goal is to move ESTIEM from passive visibility to active influence, ensuring that the work our network does is formally recognized and valued by universities and professional partners.

3. Strengthening the Digital Heart of the Network

Internal communication should be a catalyst for engagement and growth. By focusing on the visibility of milestones and success stories, I want to transform our internal platforms into a Digital Heart that motivates ESTIEMers to take their next step. My goal is for our internal PR to inspire ESTIEMers to join Central work, participate in events, and more intentionally develop their professional skills through active contribution.

I have spent the last few years managing teams, coordinating a high volume of projects, and questioning how we can work more effectively. Now, I am ready to take that experience to the European level. I don’t just want to manage our PR; I want to engineer it.

I look forward to discussing this vision and hearing yours in Istanbul.

My Application

In Novi Sad, we often use an expression: “green runs through our veins.”

It started as a joke, but over time I realised how much this phrase actually shaped the growth of our Local Group. For me, it represents dedication, motivation, ambition, and above all, community.

I became an ESTIEMer five years ago, and honestly, even to me that sounds like a long time. During these years, I have taken on several roles, initially focusing on developing my Local Group. I served as Vice President of Human Resources, and later became President. Today, I continue contributing at the central level as a Leader, while my voice can be heard through the ESTIEM Podcast.

To truly understand my motivation for applying, I need to share the story of my Local Group.

When I first joined, our Local Group had strong enthusiasm but not yet a strong reputation at the faculty. During two years of active Board work, we worked intentionally to create a new spirit and mindset. Today, ESTIEM Novi Sad is recognised at our faculty as an organisation that gathers some of the most ambitious and driven Industrial Engineering and Management students.

How did this happen? By consistently organising academic and career-oriented projects year after year. Students join because they want to grow and develop and the Local Group provides exactly that environment. Professors now value involvement in our organisation,
and partner companies regularly share job opportunities where our members are given priority. Step by step, we built a strong and trusted brand.

Currently, I am finishing my Master’s studies and plan to begin my PhD after that. After my Board year, my goal is to remain in academia and continue working at the university. What this says about me is simple: I have chosen my path. My professional future will be dedicated to the academic community, the development of students’ skills, and bridging education with practical career development.

When I think about ESTIEM in the long term, I envision a network where every member feels fulfilled and clearly sees the value of their involvement for personal growth. Each of us comes with our own story, ambitions, and dreams and ESTIEM should provide a clear pathway for your goals.

Creating Clear Development Paths through Data-Driven and Personalized Learning

We all observed that a large percentage of participants attending ESTIEM events are newcomers, while relatively few members participate in multiple events throughout their journey. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of visibility regarding how ESTIEM
contributes to long-term personal and professional development.

At the same time, industry expectations toward young professionals are evolving rapidly. As a network connecting students, academia, and industry, ESTIEM is in a unique position to translate these trends into meaningful development opportunities for its members and actively communicate them within the network.

My vision is therefore to make development within ESTIEM more intentional and visible by creating clear learning pathways supported by data-driven insights, personalized recommendations, and shared industry skill trends.

With this in mind, I would like to focus on:
1. Clear Development Paths – Map events to structured paths based on skills, competencies, and experience, helping members see their progression and career relevance.
2. Personalized Learning – Use the ESTIEM Portal to collect members’ goals and interests, then recommend events tailored to their journey. Insights will also guide in identifying emerging skills and trends.

Having presented my broader vision for ESTIEM, I would also like to highlight several focus areas that I aim to specifically develop as Vice President of Education.

I plan to work closely with the Education Development Committee (EDC) to further strengthen member development through structured educational trainings focused on research skills and academic writing, enabling more ESTIEMers to actively contribute to research papers and academic publications.

A key priority will be making Education more attractive and accessible within the network by clearly communicating available opportunities for members interested in academic and research-oriented activities.

Additionally, I aim to continue developing ESTIEM’s advocacy efforts, empowering students to contribute their perspectives to discussions on engineering education and the future of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Supporting Local Academic and Career Development Events

Local Groups are sometimes unaware of the educational opportunities they can create themselves. Often, the main limitation is not finances or size, but awareness and guidance.

Throughout my journey, I have witnessed how local academic and career events significantly increase a Local Group’s value and directly support member development. I would like to promote the sharing of best practices, concrete event formats, and practical guidance on how and why Local Groups can implement such initiatives, enabling education-driven growth at the local level.

Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I hope that soon, in Boğaziçi, you will see on stage someone who builds relationships through trust, approaches challenges with responsibility, and is truly passionate about designing and executing strategies that move ESTIEM forward and shape a stronger future for our network.

I warmly welcome your feedback and perspectives, as I believe that shaping these ideas together with the network is essential.

A journey driven by “yes”

Exactly 30 months ago, I joined ESTIEM through a simple local team-building event, not really knowing what I was getting into or where it might lead. It didn’t take long for me to have my first “love at first sight” experience… in fact, it didn’t even take two weeks for me to decide to crash my first event: CM Budapest. That event was a total “slap in the face” in the best way possible. It was the moment I realized just how big and impactful this network truly is.

From that point on, nothing could stop me. My path has taken me from local board experience, then central team member to Regional Coordinator. Saying that these have been the most interesting and transformative years of my life would be an understatement.

I have grown more than I ever thought possible, gaining everything from event management and presentation skills to the confidence for public speaking. But beyond professional growth, ESTIEM has given me the kind of deep, lifelong friendships and bonding experiences that are hard to find anywhere else (and, for those who know, even love). This network has been the stage for my most significant personal development, where I’ve learned as much about myself as I have about our internal structures.

Now, more than 35 events later, I know I still have so much to learn and even more to give back. I am ready to channel all that I’ve gained into a new challenge.

It is with great passion and commitment that I present my application for the Vice President of Activities of the 37th Board, a position that works at the very core of what brings us together: our events and the connections they create.

My journey has allowed me to shape a clear vision for the future of our organization, one where, working with coboardies, leaders and members, we can leave a positive impact. With that in mind, I have defined key goals to guide my mandate.

Goal 1: Standardize feedback collection & knowledge management

Event reports and feedback are key tools for our network to manage knowledge, ensure high event quality, continuous improvement, and give organizers a chance to share their unique experiences.

However, currently event reports and feedback are often viewed as a burden by Local Groups, leading to a lack of interest and a situation where we frequently have to run after organizers to get them submitted. Furthermore, because feedback collection methods vary significantly across different services and other events, the data we do receive is often inconsistent, incomplete, or eventually lost.

To address this, I want to bridge the gap in how we gather feedback by standardizing the entire collection process. Working closely with the EQC, I plan to create clear, unified guidelines for feedback collection both during and after events. By establishing a coherent framework that everyone can follow, we can ensure that the data we collect is consistent, high-quality, and (most importantly) never lost.

I also want to shift the perception of event reports and feedback from “administrative tasks” to vital tools for growth. I plan to raise awareness among all members that these documents are not just for Central to monitor quality, they are a gift to future organizers. To make this a reality, I intend to actively integrate these reports into the organization process, transforming them into resources for both organizers and service leaders.

Goal 2: Strengthening the support structure for local organizers

Currently, there is a noticeable inconsistency in the support Local Groups receive during the organizing process of different event types that can lead to confusion and an imbalance across services. This inconsistency can cause Local Groups to lose interest in organizing certain types of events or leave them with a negative experience as organizers. To address this, I intend to work closely with service leaders to standardize our approach, guarantee that every Local Group receives reliable and uniform support throughout their entire journey and also ensure that LGs are fully informed and have seamless access to the collective knowledge and tools of our network from the very beginning.

Effective collaboration and constant alignment between service leaders is the key to ensuring this support is seamless. A refined structure, paired with clear access to resources, serves as the foundation for eliminating silos, protecting organizer motivation, and guaranteeing a high-quality, balanced experience for the entire network.

Goal 3: Improve structural transparency & member accessibility

Throughout my ESTIEM journey, and particularly during my time as a Regional Coordinator, I have had the privilege to exchange with many members. However, these interactions have also highlighted a significant challenge: many ESTIEMers perceive the network very differently, often feeling a sense of disconnection from our Central structure. Whether it is a lack of awareness regarding where to find information or a feeling that our organizational structure is too complex, many members (especially our newbies) struggle to grasp the full scope of what ESTIEM has to offer.

I want to bridge this gap by making ESTIEM more “newbie-friendly” and ensuring that the network’s value is clear to everyone, regardless of their experience level. My goal is to simplify the way we present our structure and create clearer pathways to information so that no member feels overwhelmed or left behind and ensure that everyone knows exactly where to look for support and opportunities and improve the overall member experience.

I aim to foster a more transparent and accessible environment where we can ensure that every ESTIEMer understands their place within the network and feels empowered to take full advantage of the possibilities available to them.

While these goals represent my vision for the upcoming year, I believe that this network is shaped collectively, not just by a single individual or the board, but by every member who contributes their energy and ideas. With that in mind, I am always open to hear your thoughts. If you have any feedback, questions, or comments regarding my goals or the future of the network, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to hear your perspective and discuss how we can build this together.

“So… what exactly happens in a Summer Academy?”

This is a question I’ve heard many times and honestly, I asked it myself when I first joined ESTIEM.

Dear Fellow ESTIEM’ers,

I am Efe Berk, a 20 year old 2nd year Aerospace Engineering student from LG Izmir-Economy. I am currently an active member of my Local Group and I am applying right now to become the next Leader of the Summer Academy.

My ESTIEM journey started in the second semester of my university life. From the very beginning, Summer Academy was one of the concepts that caught my attention the most, as it focuses deeply on internal and personal development, something different from other ESTIEM events.

“Life doesn’t give you seatbelts.” – Deadpool

At that time, there was no available Academy I could participate in. So instead of waiting, I became a Project Leader. Together with my organizing team and our Academic Leader Paulo (and yes, a lot of deep conversations along the way), we successfully created Winter Academy: A Journey to Your Inner World.

Summer Academy has been one of the strongest and most established services of ESTIEM for many years. However, it is undeniable that over time, it has started to lose its popularity. I felt this reality deeply while organizing our Winter Academy. My main goal is to bring a new and innovative vision to this valuable and comprehensive service, and to build a strong and recognizable brand identity for it. If necessary, I am ready to take bold and fundamental steps to restore its former strength and reintegrate it into the ESTIEM network in a powerful way.

I also understand why this decrease in popularity has happened. For many students (including myself), ESTIEM is an escape from the intensity of academic life. However, when they see the word “academy” without fully understanding its content, it may feel intimidating or less attractive. This is completely natural. To tackle this issue, I have already discussed these challenges with the current leader, fellow ESTIEM’ers, and our Academic Leaders. We have explored possible solutions together, and I have already started working on implementing some of them as a team member. My goal during my mandate is to fully execute these ideas and make Summer Academy more approachable, engaging, and impactful (and more fun ofc).

Summer Academy offers a unique psychological and sociological development experience that cannot be found anywhere else within the network. It creates a safe space for participants to explore themselves, challenge their perspectives, and grow both personally and socially. This uniqueness is exactly what we need to highlight and communicate more effectively.

Being part of the team this year has given me valuable insights into both the strengths and the challenges of the service. It also allowed me to actively contribute to its development. Now, I feel ready to take full responsibility, lead this service, and elevate it to the next level.

I am here to bring Summer Academy back as a dynamic, attractive and impactful service within ESTIEM.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, I would be more than happy to connect via efe.berk.isik@estiem.org.

PEAK Leader

My Application

‘’I admire sportsmen who are bright, agile and of good character.’’ -Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Hello ESTIEMers,

I am Mert Ergeç, a 21-year-old Industrial Engineering student from Local Group Famagusta. And this is my formal application for the Leader position of the youngest service in the organisation, PEAK. (Feels so good to say it)

My ESTIEM journey began in November 2023 with LG Famagusta, home of The Flamingos. Since then, I have had the pleasure of contributing to both the Europe3D Famagusta and Famagusta x Paderborn Exchange as an Organisation Team member. It was an eventful year full of ESTIEM Spirit. Since then, I moved to Germany to study abroad. Even then, I am supporting my LG a lot from a distance, and I do not hesitate to offer my help or provide meaningful feedback when needed.

After figuring out what I was going to do for my studies, I wanted to focus more on ESTIEM. I wanted to make an impact; to find a place I would truly leave a mark, an empty canvas.

And that chance came up when PEAK happened.

Yes, you read it correctly. PEAK happened. Sports is something we all do, yet so unfamiliar in ESTIEM. It can push you to the extremes, and make you go beyond your comfort zone. And you will feel that you are truly alive. That is why it is something that happens.

Since I am a sports guy myself, and PEAK was still an initiative which was yet to prove itself, it was a match made in heaven. I started working as the Event Coordinator right after the current leader took the position, which was in July 2025.

From the very beginning, it was something quite different from what I was used to in ESTIEM. I experienced the other side of ESTIEM Spirit: Being in contact with international peers and at the same time making new friends. The spirit inside the team was unmatched, that is why I did not want to miss any meetings no matter the topic. And that is also why I accidentally crashed my car in a PEAK meeting because I was too focused. I think that shows dedication (and a little bit of foolishness).

Since PEAK was so new in ESTIEM , it did not have any basis in terms of events. So, I figured why not simply go ballistic. My biggest task was coming up with new never-seen-before ideas and guiding the Local Groups through an event type that has never been seen before. For the Event Coordinator position, the sky was the limit. Literally.

I am proud to say that I had the opportunity to turn most of my ideas into reality, such as the PEAK: Dive into the Aegean Sea and ESTIEM goes Wings for Life, which will hopefully become one of the biggest ESTIEM events in recent times

I played an important part in organising 5 PEAK events all around Europe, and initiated one event that’s literally all-around Europe. Three of them are already over, and all of them have 100% Recommendation Rate. Apart from those, we still have plans for at least 3 more events for this mandate, with more work in progress events.

This year was maybe one of the best years an initiative has ever had.

But next year, can be even better by:

  • Unlocking the full potential of the PEAK Partner Program: We already did the first and the second tests of the PEAK Partner Program. After a year’s worth of work we can clearly see that the whole program itself has a lot of potential. Yet, it still needs some fine tuning for next year to make sure that the whole program is sustainable enough to make ESTIEMers keep growing together.

  • Expanding our event portfolio: Right now, we have 6 confirmed events and more in the pipeline. However, I can say that just like the 3P, it is nowhere near its full potential. For the next year, I want to focus on providing a continuous stream of events while also strengthening the core values that made PEAK what it is.

  • Improving the PEAK Communities: With the PEAK Cooking Book and the Wings For Life event, we had a nice start to last years’ ‘’Make PEAK a community’’ goal. There is still a lot we can do to create a community full of ESTIEMers who want to improve their well-being and share their achievements.

  • Introducing PEAK Awards: Rewarding people who showed exceptional development.

There are still a lot of things to work on since we only do this for a year. But as you can see, PEAK undeniably has a lot of potential. I am ready to explore it to the fullest.

Thank you for reading so far. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me 24/7 from efe.mert.ergec@estiem.org or +4915223465579.

“”Your legacy is not based on the things you did, but on the impact they have had on the people that experienced them.””

When I’m done with my ESTIEM journey, this will be the main lesson I will take with me, but for now there is one place in our network where I am sure I can impact people through once-in-a-lifetime experiences and that is Activity Week!

Dear ESTIEMers,

My name is Jani, I am a 21 year old Industrial engineering and management student from Serbia, current LR of LG Novi Sad and proud Event Responsible for Activity Week.

I first encountered ESTIEM as a highschooler at a competition, made my final choice of University because of it, and since November 2023 I have been giving it my all. During this time I have found a true passion for event organization. It is the first thing in my life that I have truly felt at place while doing, and I still chase the high I felt when my first event was going well.

This has led to me being a part of an organizational team for seven projects, mostly Central, which have included a Be X for X days, IDDcom, Vision, two exchanges, and very recently BAESTIEMEC. I am also nearing the end of my mandate as a Local ResponsIble. A local board year teaches you a lot, and more importantly shows you how to use that knowledge and share it with others. With this experience I feel ready for the next step of my journey and to take on responsibility as a leader on the Central level.

Now for the orange part of the story. I experienced IDD spirit for the first time while I was one of the organizers of IDDcom, and I just needed to be a part of it. Shortly after, at the beginning of 2025, an AW Feedback Responsible position opened up that I quickly took. This would later expand to an Event Responsible position with the mandate change. During Event Quality and Feedback chats I found myself not only trying to help other LGs but also learning and taking a lot of things to my own LG. Hearing from different perspectives made me appreciate the amount of small details that make up an event’s quality, and seeing how much it helped me grow truly convinced me of the value that working in Central can offer our members.

But that’s enough about what I’ve done so far, let’s talk about what I aim to achieve in Activity Week as a leader using my experience!

Further work on defining what an Activity Week is.

  • Preventing LG’s from calling an event an AW just because they want the strong brand it provides.

  • Ensuring that every AW in the calendar has a strong and clear concept, as well as activities which support said concept.

  • Making sure that AW’s are not just viewed as party events, they are supposed to provide unique cultural experiences that we as students wouldn’t usually be able to have, and parties should just be a byproduct of their fun nature.

Make the process of creating an Activity Week event clearer for LGs

  • Helping LG’s that previously only organized LGXs adapt to the changes voted upon in CM Niš by building upon their previous experience and creating a concept for an AW event.

  • Proactively targeting LG’s who fit the previous description and can bring cultural experiences previously not explored to AW.

  • Maintaining and updating tools from previous mandates designed to help organize AW events.

Develop and enable Activity Week members

  • Building up members to be fully independent and potential future leaders.

  • Partnering up older AW team members with newbies.

  • Encouraging Event responsibles to actively take notes, document their opinions and draw conclusions about the events they support.

IDD and Activity Week have shown me the greatest parts of ESTIEM over the last few years, and I would truly value the opportunity to contribute to both as a leader over the next year. You will hopefully be able to see my passion live in Istanbul, but until then you can shoot any questions or suggestions at jani.delale@estiem.org.

“With our thoughts we make the world.”

Dear ESTIEMers,

I’m Hafsa from LG Istanbul-Yıldız & Grenoble, a 22 years old Industrial Engineering senior student, soon to graduate. I am honored to apply for the businessbooster Leadership position.

I joined ESTIEM in 2022, with the initial aim of developing myself both professionally and personally. Since then, I have actively participated in numerous international events and organized both offline and online activities. Beyond my initial expectations, ESTIEM has given me the invaluable opportunity to connect with inspiring people and grow into leadership roles, including becoming a Service Leader of Be X for X Days.

My first experience was “Be an Entrepreneur for 4 Days” a collaboration between Be X for X Days and businessbooster. During this event, I truly connected with ESTIEM and its unique ability to create impactful learning experiences. I later attended “Be a Crisis Manager for 5 Days” and “Career Development Department CoM ’25”, a few of my highlight events. At CM Calabria, I was selected as the Leader of Be X for X Days, and currently, I am organizing “Be a Tech Entrepreneur for 3 Hours” in collaboration with LG Ankara-Bilkent.

Through these experiences, I have developed a strong understanding of entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial mindset. Learning directly from startup founders and professionals, and observing how ideas evolve into real opportunities, has been incredibly inspiring for me. As a participant, I not only gained knowledge about entrepreneurship but also stayed connected with emerging technologies, innovations, and real world applications.

To me, entrepreneurship is not just about having an idea, it is a journey driven by idealism. It is long, challenging, time consuming.. and yet deeply fulfilling. True entrepreneurs persist despite uncertainty, driven by their belief in their ideas from the very beginning. With this mindset, I aim to approach businessbooster like an entrepreneur and make it a journey that supports and empowers idealistic individuals within ESTIEM.

With this motivation, I would like to achieve the following goals within the next year:

Bring Strategical Innovations:

My vision is to transform businessbooster into a structured entrepreneurial journey that identifies, develops, and supports future founders within ESTIEM and ultimately provide them with a long-term environment where they can further develop their ideas with guidance and support

Increase the Awareness:

Increase the awareness and visibility of businessbooster and the ESTIEM Incubator by clearly defining their value proposition and creating a recognizable entrepreneurial journey for all members

Build Strong Relationships with ESTIEMers:

I want to build strong and meaningful relationships among idealist ESTIEMers and leverage these connections with Alumni and Incubators to create a supportive community of future entrepreneurs.

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. If you have questions or want to share your feedback, feel free to contact me via hafsa.refia.kir@estiem.org

My Application

“Everything is a win when the goal is to experience.”

That’s exactly how I started my University and ESTIEM Journey, focusing on trying, learning and being part of different experiences. With Europe 3D I want to create the same mindset for ESTIEMers, where people feel encouraged to step in, experience new things and grow through the process.

Dear ESTIEMers,
My name is Janset Eliz Taş (JET) from LG Izmir Economy. I was/am the Event Quality Responsible/Transitional Leader of Europe 3D Team.

I joined ESTIEM in October 2023. At the local level, I first got involved in a Local Group Exchange as an OT, and later I took on the role of Project Leader in local events. These experiences made me realize that I wanted to be more active and contribute more to ESTIEM.

In the year 2024–2025 , I was elected as VP of PR. After Mediterranean BTE and MOT Weekend, the experiences I had and the people I met there gave me a lot of motivation and happiness. That’s when I decided that I wanted to take a role at the central level. My year as VP of PR was quite a journey, with ups and downs that taught me a lot. At the end of it, I realized I don’t just want to stay active locally. I want to be more involved on the central level as well. And to be honest, I’m not ready to let go of this network yet.

Following that, I started as a Graphic Designer in PRC, and I’m still continuing in that role. This year, I also wanted to try something different and push myself out of my comfort zone, especially in PR. I feel really lucky that ESTIEM offers so many different opportunities to explore and grow.

Through ESTIEM Fairs and the people I talked to, I realized that the concept that interested me the most was Europe3D. So I decided to move in that direction, and thankfully, at the beginning of this year, I got selected and started as an Event Quality Responsible in Europe3D Team.

As an Event Quality Responsible in Europe3D this year, I was mostly focused on making sure events were actually meaningful and well structured, not just “happening.” I worked closely with organizers, supported them during the process, and tried to give feedback that could really improve their sessions. I also reviewed event content, helped shape agendas, and made sure the overall experience was engaging for participants. At the same time, I learned a lot by observing different events and approaches, and I tried to reflect those learnings back into the system. Overall, it was a mix of supporting, learning, and contributing wherever I could to make E3D events better.

After that, I became a Transitional Leader, which honestly felt like a small sneak peek into what a leadership mandate would be like. It gave me the chance to take on more responsibility, see things from a broader perspective, and understand better how I want to lead and contribute moving forward.

And these are my goals for moving forward :

● Event Creativity and Organization Development

  • Boosting the creativity of E3D events by using what I experienced at IDDCoM, especially how working group sessions and idea sharing really help people come up with more creative concepts.
  • Creating simple guidelines, checklists or best practice documents for organizers so they know step by step what to do before, during, and after the event/meetings with the 3D Team.
  • Making organizing less intimidating by giving clearer guidance and sharing real experiences supporting the LGs so more people feel confident to take part.

● Externals & Promotion

  • Using storytelling (sharing real participant experiences and moments) to make E3D feel more attractive.
  • Collaborating with PRC and Ambassadors to reach a wider audience and keep the promotion more creative.
  • Making another feedback form (Apart from the regular ESTIEM feedback form) focusing more on the externals experience throughout the Europe 3D Event process created by the KM Panda and with the team for externals to learn and improve the quality for their experience.

● Team Structure and Collaboration

  • Supporting team members not only task-wise but also personally, so they feel more motivated and involved in the process.
  • Having regular team chats to keep in touch with the team (For the event organization process.)

Thank you for taking the time and reading my application 🙂 Hopefully we will see each other in CM Istanbul-Bogazici. You can always hit me up with your questions in general or about my goals. (Or to chat.)

My Application

Dear ESTIEMers,

Hi there, to those who know me as the podcast guy and to those who will get to know me as an applicant for “Be X for X Days” service leadership. I am Umut from LG Ankara-Bilkent. 22 year old industrial engineering student who is also  competing as an operatic tenor. (put aside a cent for every time I mention opera this CM)

Let’s talk about my ESTIEM journey. Coming to the reason some know me as the podcast guy is that I have been in that project since it started. All of my central ESTIEM work was in the podcast team, including a leadership last year. I had the opportunity to work with a lot of different-thinking leaders and bring my own perspective to the leadership. My mandate has seen tough days that we also managed to overcome. One of the main ways we could overcome this challenge was through *my first BXD event: Be a Podcast Creator for 2 Hours*.

As you see, my BXD journey started with organizing an event myself, the next bxd event I went to Be an Investment Architect for 5 Days sealed it for me that I wanted to apply for the leadership of this service.

Why did I choose BXD? I am absolutely in love with the CM spirit and BXD has the work hard play hard motto like a mini-cozy CM, in an event where we get to improve ourselves very rapidly and create really strong friendships!

Why should you, pick me for this position?

1) Central experience: I have been with a lot of different voices as I said, both as a member and a leader, so I am confident of my skills for managing a team as well as ideas.

2) BXD experience: between organizing and joining BXD events, I think I have the grasp of many topics to consider as a leader.

Let’s talk a bit about my vision for this service:

1) Make learning easy and exciting: I will try to break any bias that says “this type of event is so hard, I just want to travel” and show that; learning tough looking topics can be really easy, having fun and traveling are still important points for us.

2) Packing everything into events while not feeling pushy: One of the major complaints about educational events is that people still want to go hard at night events while they have to wake up for early sessions, I will make a few adjustments to the schedules with the LGs I organize the events with to make sure people can have energy through the whole event

What is there to lose?”

This question explains my last 2 years of my life. If I don’t have a reason not to, I’ll do it. I connect with everyone and everything easily and I never stay in my comfort zone. Actually, I make every little thing I try my little comfort zones, and I jump around them as I travel from one place to another in ESTIEM. And I am always down for developing things.

Hey there! I’m Eylül Elif Kısakürek from LG Ankara Bilkent and I am applying to become the next Leader of the ESTIEM Podcast.

I started my ESTIEM Journey in November 2024, and my very first event was the Tampere LGX. That trip to Tampere was a game-changer for me—I realized I wanted to get more involved in Central and set my sights on being a board member for the next year. After “Be a Podcast Creator for 2 Hours”, I decided to apply for the open position in ESTIEM Podcast. Fast forward to July 2025 I was thrilled to become a boardie in our LG! My main focus has been on PR, but I love jumping in to help out wherever I can. In August 2025, I officially started working on the ESTIEM Podcast. When our leader stepped down, I thought, “Why not?” and applied to be the ESTIEM Podcast leader at CM Nis. That experience pushed me even further and strengthened my motivation to grow.

Our LG Ankara-Bilkent team has been super busy locally and centrally. Organizing events like the Munich-Bilkent Exchange, Alterra MoWe, CDDCoM, TIMES LQ. We also ran ESTIEM 101 and 102 training sessions to help our active members learn all about ESTIEM. Looking ahead, can’t wait for all the fun ahead!

Throughout my time in the network, I have enjoyed being in places where people share ideas, tell stories, and learn from each other. I believe communication is one of the best tools that connects our community. Podcasts have become a powerful form of media — people listen to and watch them, learn from them, and connect with them. Our network has many inspiring stories, experiences, projects, and ideas. Even though they have been shared in our podcasts, many of these remain within events, committees, or local groups. A strong podcast can bring these experiences to the entire network and even beyond it. My vision is to make the ESTIEM Podcast an engaging and sustainable media platform for our network, informed by what I have learned from my leaders.

To achieve this, I would focus on several key areas:

  • Strengthening the identity of the podcast by creating a clear concept, tone, and structure, ensuring consistency across all episodes.
  • Exploring audio-visual formats, taking steps towards making the podcast both listenable and watchable, increasing engagement and accessibility.
  • Enhancing content quality and value by inviting ESTIEMers, alumni, and external guests to share insights on leadership, personal development, and IEM career paths.
  • Focusing on team development by organizing trainings and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve skills in hosting, storytelling, and editing, ensuring long-term quality. Also, proceed to provide a safe place for the team.
  • Ensuring consistency and sustainability by strengthening workflows, production processes, and planning systems for regular episode delivery.
  • Increasing visibility and accessibility by collaborating with PRC and adapting content into formats suitable for broader reach.

I believe the ESTIEM Podcast can be more than it seems. It can be the voice of our network, where ideas, experiences, and inspiration come together. With the spirit of the ESTIEM we can build something that future ESTIEMers will be proud to continue.

My Application

“Some stories begin with certainty; mine began with curiosity. As engineers, we are taught to keep things short and precise. Yet when it comes to this chapter of my life, ESTIEM, words often fall short of capturing its true impact.

Hi there curious reader, I’m Drăgan Maria-Daniela, Dana short, proud member of LG Târgu Mureș and this is how my journey in ESTIEM began.

As I stepped into university life, I found myself facing more questions than answers, navigating what felt like a maze without a map. Somewhere between finding my way and seeking opportunities beyond the classroom, I came across ESTIEM, or perhaps ESTIEM came across me.

I quickly realized that ESTIEM is more than just an organization and at first, I wasn’t quite sure where to begin. Then I discovered the ESTIEM Magazine, which unexpectedly revived a long‑forgotten dream of mine: graphic design . With no experience and only a vague idea of how the software worked, I applied driven purely by interest and hope. To my surprise, I was given a chance.

That first interaction with Central ESTIEM left a lasting impression on me. The openness and encouragement I encountered pushed me to take action rather than hesitate. Supported throughout the learning process, I earned a certificate and became a graphic designer for the 70th issue of the ESTIEM Magazine, an achievement I am genuinely proud of.

The real challenge began there, pushing me to adapt quickly and master new concepts and tools. It was demanding, yet incredibly rewarding, teaching me new skills, broadening my perspective, and strengthening my confidence and creativity. Through it all, I realized I hadn’t just joined an organization; I had found a community that supported me and helped me grow.

My motivation to apply for the role of Magazine leader comes from experiencing firsthand how powerful genuine support and trust can be. I hope to give back by helping create a space where others feel comfortable learning, trying, and growing at their own pace. By bringing new ideas, strengthening what already works, and learning through collaboration, responsibility, and reflection, I hope to grow alongside the team and support ESTIEM with the same care and intention it has shown me. I aim to do this by focusing on three key areas:

1. Content Vision

I believe the reader is central , not only as a consumer of content, but as a source of valuable experience. ESTIEM thrives because members gain knowledge through the network and continuously give it back, with every journey enriching our shared understanding.

Beyond personal stories, I want the magazine to highlight practical insights gained through challenges, leadership roles, international teamwork, and cultural exchange.

At the same time, since many students and alumni struggle to see ESTIEM’s professional value, I aim to showcase the transferable skills it develops, leadership, project management, stakeholder communication, and international collaboration, to strengthen its relevance for industry and partners.

>> To ensure clarity, content will be structured through defined audience lenses, such as:

  • New ESTIEMers (onboarding, inspiration, guidance)
  • Active members (projects, leadership, learning)
  • Alumni and industry (skills, impact, career paths)
  • Partners and recruiters (talent, competencies, mindset)

2. Team Coordination and Support

>> For me, strong teamwork begins with clear and honest communication. That’s why I aim to foster an environment where openness and mutual support come naturally.

  • Welcome meetings with clear explanations of workflows, expectations, and timelines
  • A safe space where every question matters, ensuring no one feels lost or hesitant to speak up
  • Short tutorials for essential tools used by the team, reducing friction and uncertainty
  • The implementation of a proof designer role, ensuring visual consistency and quality across issues

Additionally, having a shared document reflecting on what worked well, what did not, and concrete suggestions for improvement could help the team continuously learn and grow together from one issue to the next.

3. Publicity and reader engagement

>> To increase visibility and engagement, I propose expanding the magazine into a more interactive online presence.

  • Developing an online magazine format with interactive elements
  • Reader polls such as:
    • “What should the next focus topic be?”
    • “Vote for the Article of the Year”
    • A “Letter to the Editor” section and reader feedback highlights

>> To bring the content closer to readers and expand its visibility, I would introduce:

  • Short “Meet the Author” posts, encouraging authors to share their articles on social media;

These actions aim to transform the magazine from a static publication into a living community platform.

In the same way ESTIEM is sustained by the experiences its members gain and give back, I see the Magazine as a space to capture, reflect on, and share those stories. I want it to show that every ESTIEMer deserves to dream big and aim high. By building on what already exists and supporting both the team and the wider network, I hope to help the magazine grow alongside ESTIEM and the people within it.

My Application

Not just something we read, but something that tells our story…

With each day of my ESTIEM journey, I have come to realize more deeply that this is a limitless and inspiring world. Every new experience strengthens my desire to contribute further, and along the way, the friendships and memories I have built have made me truly appreciate the excitement and meaning of everyone writing their own story here. Now, I feel ready to begin a new chapter in my own journey, a step I am genuinely excited to take.

Hello dear ESTIEMers,

I am Ece from LG Istanbul-ITU. I started my ESTIEM journey in November 2024. The fulfillment and motivation I found in being a part of this network quickly turned my passion for designing and creating into a way of contributing to the organization. Currently, I serve as the Vice President of Public Relations for my Local Group. Driven by my love for design and a desire to be active at the central level, I joined the ESTIEM Magazine team in September 2025 as a graphic designer and promotion responsible. Throughout my journey, I have had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of events and organize numerous events  alongside my fellow board members.

During my mandate, I have had numerous opportunities to gain hands-on experience and make key observations. The most significant of these was leading our local PR team and managing the production of our local newsletter which functions as a digital magazine. Throughout this process, I gained valuable experience at the local level in areas such as building team structures, generating creative content, and identifying the specific needs of new members to provide them with knowledge enhancing ideas. Additionally, my role has allowed me to consistently elevate my design skills. By applying these skills, I have gained significant experience in managing the brand image and visibility of my Local Group.

Furthermore, during my time as a graphic designer and promotion responsible for the Magazine, I had the chance to gain experience and make observations at the Central level. Working within this team allowed me to evaluate the organizational structure firsthand while utilizing various design tools. On the promotion side, I focused on enhancing the Magazine’s brand identity and participated in the collaboration process. Joining PRCoM this year has been a major turning point for my development, providing me with the essential insights that helped shape my future goals. This experience has increased my awareness of the network’s needs and highlighted the areas that require improvement. Based on the experiences, observations, and inputs I have gathered, here my goals:

1. Team Building & Knowledge Management

Ultimately, I believe that creating a high-quality product starts with fostering an environment where every team member feels a true sense of belonging and where communication is strong. My goal is to establish a team structure that grows and produces together; one that allows members to contribute while simultaneously enhancing their personal skills and knowledge management. By doing so, we can ensure a collaborative atmosphere where both the project and the individuals behind it evolve together.

2-Increasing Visibility & Network Engagement

In addition to publishing the Magazine twice a year, I believe that a process shaped by our own network will be truly successful. This involves maintaining close communication and collaboration with PRC and using various forms or surveys throughout the year to understand what the network wants to see and read. By keeping the network updated and establishing strong ties with RCs and Local Groups, we can include the specific knowledge that active members need. Ultimately, I am confident that creating a process where we collectively shape our own Magazine will lead to the best results.

3-Positioning the Magazine as a Functional Communication Channel

My objective is to transform the Magazine into a channel where ESTIEM’s achievements, developments, and experiences are highlighted, ensuring that our core values are shared permanently with both internal and external audiences. While keeping the network informed internally, I aim to share these values with the wider IEM Europe externally. By doing so, we can bridge the gap between our internal progress and our external impact, showcasing the essence of ESTIEM to the entire professional world.

4-Partnerships, Sponsorships & External Relations

I believe the Magazine will resonate deeply with its target audience, particularly in the fields of IEM and education. My goal is to create a platform that not only showcases ESTIEM’s values and achievements but also powerfully reflects our unique spirit and the network’s successes to externals. By fostering this space, the Magazine will serve as a vital tool for our outreach. Furthermore, by leveraging this specific audience, I aim to establish strong collaboration and communication with the CRC to create new opportunities for sponsors who are eager to reach this target audience.

My Application

“”What gets measured gets managed.”” – Peter Drucker

Dear ESTIEMers,

One more step to the highest… This quote perfectly explains my ESTIEM journey. If it is not familiar to you, let me briefly explain my journey. I am Berk, a 21-year-old IEM student and the current LR of LG Ankara-METU, and it is a massive honor to announce that I am applying to be your next Financial Controller.

My ESTIEM journey quickly evolved from attending events to taking on leadership roles. My role as the Vice President of Human Resources for LG Ankara-METU deeply connected me to our network’s culture. Eager to contribute centrally, I joined the Corporate Relations Committee as a team member. Today, as the Local Responsible of LG Ankara-METU, which has 200+ members, I manage our entire local budget alongside leading the board. Tracking all income and expenses, allocating event budgets, and making tough financial decisions encouraged me to look from a financial perspective.

To be more inside of the Finance Sphere, I joined the Grants Committee, where I examine EU applications and brainstorm external funding strategies. Then I attended ESTIEM College in Liège, and this was a milestone in my Central journey. It was such a Liegendary event that we talked about critical decisions and potential changes in the network. This perspective shaped my vision as I step up for Financial Controller: to ensure our financial strategies don’t just balance the books, but actively empower the operations, events, and culture that keep this network alive. Finally, organizing and participating in Finance Summit 2.0 in Ankara-METU proved to me that the Finance Sphere is exactly where I belong, bringing me here today to apply as your next Financial Controller.

You might ask, why am I the right person for this role? The position of Financial Controller requires more than just an interest in numbers; it demands a comprehensive understanding of how those numbers drive our network on both a local and central scale. My time as the LR of a 200+ member Local Group has given me practical, on-site experience in managing complex budgets, tracking expenses, and making tough financial decisions. Combining this local foundation with my central perspective from the Grants and Corporate Relations Committees allows me to understand ESTIEM’s entire financial ecosystem. Beyond my ESTIEM experience, being an IEM student and taking core courses like microeconomics, macroeconomics, and accounting has given me a strong technical foundation. When you integrate this academic base with my strict habit of double-checking every detail, it creates the exact mindset required to be a reliable and comprehensive auditor.

Now let’s talk about my goals as a Financial Controller:

Absolute Independence & Objective Auditing
The most important part of this role, in my eyes, is true independence. Financial Controllers need to be unbiased for our network. I am committed to acting as an independent auditing system of our resources, separate from the Vice President of Finance and the Board. Instead of just following the flow, I will dive deep into the details and look at the budget and all financial documents with an objective perspective.

Legal Compliance
I will ensure strict compliance with our Internal Regulations (IR), Membership Regulations (MR), and external agreements under Dutch Law.

Clear and Open Finances
I believe that finances shouldn’t be a “”secret language”” known only by a few. Every ESTIEMer has a right to know how our network is managed financially. My aim is to write audit reports that are clear and easy to follow, no matter how much financial experience you have. Transparency is about building trust across the whole network.

Boosting Financial Awareness
I want to bridge the gap between “”the numbers”” and “”the members.”” By making financial topics more approachable, I will help people actually see the financial side of the ESTIEM experiences they will love.

Active Communication
I believe an effective auditor needs to have a professional, open relationship with the VPF. I’ll keep communication active so we can catch potential problems early and solve them together before they become real challenges.

Thank you for taking the time to read all these. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me via berk.duran@estiem.org or Whatsapp: (+90 553 848 8992).

See you at CM Bogazici or somewhere in Europe!

My Application

Before diving into the more interesting stuff (I promise), I have to follow the trend and share a quote:

“Traveling makes one modest. You see better the tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert

Beyond the fun fun part of traveling, this quote carries a deeper meaning and reflects who I am, what motivates me, and the ambition I bring to every project I undertake. No one can pretend to know everything; every day can be a lesson, and becoming a better version of yourself is already a win.

Being part of ESTIEM is a journey and an experience to embrace (Never did I know what I embarked myself in when I joined the network).

Dear ESTIEMers,

For those whom I haven’t met yet, I am Jhonny Wang. A master’s student in economics with a specialization in Economic Analysis and Policy, and a small dream of opening a café after completing a PhD in economics. I am also currently serving as Vice President of CR and Finance in LG Liège, and proudly as Event Responsible member of Activity Week.

Who would believe me if I said that I fried some fries in a suit during Board Meeting III of the 34th Board?
That’s where it all began in November 2023, when I decided to join ESTIEM LG Liege. Initially, my motivations were similar to many others: joining friends, improving my English and soft skills, traveling, and discovering new cultures. Over time, I became more and more involved in improving my committee at the local level (CR), which eventually led me to take on greater responsibility by becoming a member of the Local Board in May 2025.

During my mandate, I had the opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge in practice by establishing budgets, managing bookkeeping, ensuring legal compliance, and guiding a team in securing external support. Finance and law are two areas I have studied widely and genuinely enjoy. However, being proficient in finance is not solely about knowledge; it also requires understanding context, a critical thinking mindset, and strong interpretative skills. These competencies were key learning outcomes during my studies in economics, where each course offered me a different perspective and a rational mindset for approaching topics.

Beyond ESTIEM, I have also been involved in a student association at my university: La Centrale des Cours HEC. There, I worked with suppliers across the country to provide books and syllabi to students at affordable prices. This experience strengthened my skills in time management, organization, stakeholder negotiation, and adaptability in uncertain situations. Besides developing my skills, it also provided me with a more practical environment in which I could work on the financial aspects of the organization, including managing supplier contracts, as well as monitoring costs and pricing to ensure a balanced financial outcome.

The second turning point in my journey came through my first events: “Liège and Trondheim Visit Ankara METU” and the “LXXI Council Meeting Niš.” These experiences allowed me to truly feel the ESTIEM spirit and understand the network on a deeper level. While the exchange helped me discover new cultures and connect with people, the Council Meeting functioned more as an interactive learning experience, introducing me to ESTIEM’s structure and its active members.

By that time, I took another step forward by joining a central team—Activity Week. The expression “a frog in a well” perfectly describes both the amount of knowledge I gained and how I felt during the Intercultural Development Department CoM 2026. This Coordination Meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration, particularly across different services: Working in a specific field does not mean working alone; being part of a team enables greater achievements. In addition, the sessions helped me build greater confidence in sharing my opinions on broader topics and in presenting in front of an audience.

Attending sessions of the “Finance Summit 2.0” further deepened my understanding of ESTIEM’s financial landscape and its ongoing projects within the network.

For all these reasons, I would like to formally express my intention to apply for the position of Financial Controller in ESTIEM.

If elected, I would aim to achieve the following goals to the fullest:

Compliance and Transparency
I will ensure that all financial documents are prepared in good faith, are accurate, and comply with all applicable regulations, while maintaining a critical perspective. Methodologies and procedures will be accessible to all interested parties and follow a rigorous approach, strengthening the role and voice of the Financial Controller.

Financial Awareness and Accessibility
I will aim to make ESTIEM’s financial matters more accessible and easier to understand, even for those without a background in finance. This will help reduce the knowledge gap between active members and newcomers, while also making the position of Financial Controller more approachable for future generations.

Internal Sustainability
While respecting the independence of the Financial Controller, I will prioritize close communication with the Vice President of Finance to ensure a smooth flow of information, transparency, and a healthy financial mandate. Budget auditing is not solely about numbers—it also requires a deep understanding of context and the reasoning behind decisions.

Transition and Knowledge Management
A successful mandate is not only measured by achieved goals but also by the continuity it ensures. To minimize knowledge loss, I will maintain up-to-date and comprehensive documentation and organize an effective handover. I will also foster connections with previous Financial Controllers to build a strong network that supports the growth and sharing of financial knowledge.

If you have read this far, I sincerely thank you for your time and attention. I remain available for any questions or clarifications. My contact details are provided below.

Host TIMES Final 2027

 Local Group Seville

My Application

We are applying to host the TIMES Final. This year, however, we would like to introduce some changes. Since organizing the Final and the Semifinal separately through different local groups has been challenging, we are proposing to combine both into one single event.

This format would also make things easier for participants, as they would only need to organize their schedules, travel, and preparation for one event instead of two. At the same time, it would create valuable opportunities for students to connect with companies and gain exposure to international businesses.

We have been working very hard on this project and have put a great deal of effort into making it possible. We hope you appreciate our application and place your trust in us.

Host LXXIV CM Spring 2027

 Local Group Porto

My Application

Dear ESTIEMers,

We, as the board of Local Group Porto, are extremely proud to present our application to host the LXXIV Council Meeting Spring 2027.

After the successful organization of the latest Council Meeting in Porto in 2023, our motivation to bring this event back has only grown stronger. Many of us joined after that moment and spent the past years hearing how impactful and memorable that edition was. That only increased our desire to experience it ourselves and to bring that same energy back to Porto, this time as organizers.

Founded in 1993, Local Group Porto has always been shaped by its culture, combining strong traditions, a unique identity, and a genuine passion for bringing people together. Built by those who appreciate good food, great company, and the occasional glass of Porto wine, our group has grown into a community known for its welcoming spirit and vibrant energy. Over the years, we have hosted several Council Meetings, with the most recent one in 2023, each one contributing to our experience and growth. Now, we are ready to do it again, with even more ambition and awareness of what it takes to deliver something truly memorable.

Today, LG Porto, together with AGE-i-FEUP, operates as a unified structure with a clear purpose. Our organization includes multiple departments, task forces, and initiatives, bringing together around 80 dedicated members who are motivated and prepared to take on this challenge. We are a group that combines experience with a new generation full of motivation and fresh ideas.

In recent times, we have reinforced our capacity by organizing events such as Be a Consultant for 4 Days, Waves and Wine Activity Week, and the LSS Central Course Porto, in addition to exchanges and several local initiatives. Each of these experiences strengthened our team, improved our coordination, and increased our confidence in delivering high-quality events. Hosting a Council Meeting in 2023 gave us not only experience, but also a clear understanding of what can be improved, and that is exactly what drives us now.

With a solid organizational structure, financial stability, and strong support from both our partners and our university, we are confident in our ability to deliver a Council Meeting that meets expectations and goes beyond them.

So now, we invite you to Porto. To experience the atmosphere, the people, and the energy that define us. To understand firsthand what “No Porto No Party” truly means.

We are ready, we know what it takes, and we are excited to welcome you for a week you will not forget.

In High ESTIEM,

Statement Regarding Safety

Dear ESTIEMers,

I am writing to you regarding the recent reports of Iran firing a missile towards Türkiye in connection with the safety of our upcoming Council Meeting.

As multiple sources reported, an Iranian ballistic missile has been successfully intercepted by NATO forces that was supposedly headed towards Türkiye. We understand that this news might cause concern and uncertainty with respect to our upcoming Council Meeting. Thus, we want to address this topic.

As of now, the Board of ESTIEM sees no critical increase of risks or endangerment for ESTIEMers travelling to the Council Meeting in Istanbul. This is based on the thorough assessment of several factors as listed below.

  1. The Iranian armed forces gave a statement about the incident, reading: “The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran respect the sovereignty of the Republic of Turkey”.https://middle-east-online.com/en/irans-armed-forces-deny-firing-missile-towards-turkey [05.03.2026] And another source reporting: “The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran respect the sovereignty of the neighboring and friendly country, Turkey.” https://iranwire.com/en/news/149916-iran-denies-missile-launch-toward-turkey-after-nato-interception/ [05.03.2026]
  2. Geographical setting of Istanbul: Istanbul lies more than 1,200 km away from the Iranian border. While that is theoretically within reach of Iranian missiles, this also means there is 1,200 km of highly protected NATO airspace between Istanbul and any potential threat. Turkish air defense systems are on high alert and airspace in the Mediterranean sea is monitored by US Navy forces operating in the region as well as other NATO countries, e.g. France. https://www.euronews.com/2026/03/05/what-to-know-about-frances-charles-de-gaulle-aircraft-carrier-and-its-mediterranean-deploy [05.03.2026]
  3. No US military base close to Istanbul: So far, Iran has supposedly aimed to hit US military bases in its neighboring countries. The missile intercepted yesterday was thought to be headed towards Incirlik Air Base, where about 1,000 US personnel are currently stationed. Incirlik is located at the south-east end of Türkiye, about 680 km away from Istanbul. https://www.turkiyetoday.com/region/turkiye-intercepts-iranian-ballistic-missile-heading-toward-its-airspace-3215600?s=1 [04.03.2026]
  4. No change in travel advice by German Office of Foreign Affairs: The German Office of Foreign Affairs has not changed its travel warnings for Türkiye. The same goes for the Office of Foreign Affairs of the UK. We did not check every single EU country here, but expect their warnings to be coherent. In case the Office of Foreign Affairs or a similar institution of your government issues such a warning, we would be grateful if you could inform us.

Given these factors, we currently see no critical increase of risk or endangerment for ESTIEMers travelling to our Council Meeting in Istanbul. This is further supported by our impression being in Ankara right now, where everyday life continues normally. We will keep close attention to the current developments and can assure you that we keep the safety of ESTIEMers as our highest priority.

Should the result of our assessment of the current situation change, we will inform the network immediately.

In high ESTIEM,

Update on the situation for the LXXII CM

Dear ESTIEMers,

We are sending this mail regarding the upcoming LXXII Council Meeting to inform you about the current situation. Due to different issues, which will be explained later in the mail, we could not inform selected participants on time.

We truly regret to have left you and others in uncertainty. Today all selected participants will receive an e-mail and in the upcoming days, upon confirmation of these people, the rejection mail will be sent.

The upcoming Council Meeting (CM) will be organised by Local Group Istanbul-Bogazici from the 20th to the 26th of April 2026. The Local Group started working already at the end of last year on the logistics, to secure accommodation and find a room for the General Assembly (GA), which was presented during Council Meeting Nis. Unfortunately, some unforeseen events happened in the past weeks, which made these plans very uncertain and doubtful, if the Council Meeting can happen at all. So what happened?

In the past weeks, Erdogan visited the Campus of Bogazici once, which led to a shutdown of the University and no students could enter during that time, and now police is present around the campus. Furthermore, the organised GA room was then taken over by the administration of the University, for their own events, during the time of our event, as well as the alternative room that could fit 250 people. As it is not possible for the LG to rent and use a GA room outside of the campus for an official event, the question was now prevailing, if the CM can happen, without a feasible option for the GA room in sight. In the last days, we solved that issue in close work with the LG and found a solution, which will enable all participants to join the event. We are certain to have two rooms that will serve for us as GA rooms. One mainly for the delegates and the “live” GA and another one for the other spots. These rooms are secured and we are doing our best to get the official room, which was planned in the first place and would fit all people at the same time.

As you saw on the portal, the initial Cancellation Deadline was the 1st of March, which is of course not working with the delayed registration. Therefore, it has been moved to the 10th of March.

After facing and solving these unforeseen and unwanted circumstances, we are confident to have overcome the major obstacles that were in the way of this Council Meeting happening. No further issues are expected in connection with these delays. We will soon send more information to all registered participants for the further organisation of logistics.

Thanks a lot for your understanding and patience!

In high ESTIEM,
36th Board

ESTIEMers can apply for as many positions as they’d like to, but it does not increase nor does it decrease their chances for getting accepted to the Council Meeting. Please note that there will not be any additional registration opportunities for extra places or other positions at a later time.

Local Group Istanbul-Bogazici will soon provide more information regarding crashers, but as a reminder, crashers are not participants of the Council Meeting and are therefore responsible for their accommodation and food. They will be provided in a limited amount.

Working Groups
ESTIEMers have once again the opportunity to apply to hold a Working Group, but only a limited number will be selected. For the selection you will need to present concrete goals and a plan to follow up the outcomes after the Council Meeting. Maximum 2 ESTIEMers can apply to hold a Working Group as the Co-leaders. If the Working Group is accepted, the Leaders that applied to hold it will have a secured spot for the Council Meeting. The applications will be held in a separate form that can be found below.
